The Show

Friends of the Bone Chariot is a serial podcast telling stories that are a mix of improv and scripted elements. All seasons include a full musical score and sound effects. The episodes are broken up with midway segments that add backstory and depth to the worlds we create.

The first season, Welcome to Madawaska, is a mixture of horror, comedy, and drama set in a small town in northern Maine in March, 1949. Four travelers arrive in Madawaska to discover that Stella Cyr has gone missing, setting off a chain of events that will lead them to discover terrible secrets beneath the town. Midway segments are news and weather reports from Glenn Heart of WKTM 660 Madawaska Public Radio.

The second season, to be released in December, 2020, is called Combs Valley High Class of ’89. It’s November, 2019 and the class of Combs Valley High is getting together for their thirty year class reunion at the luxurious Waterfront Banquet Hall. Strolling down memory lane, sipping cheap well-drinks, four alumni grow suspicious that all is not as it seems as the evening progresses. Midway segments are announcements from the Waterfront Banquet Hall emcees DJ Slick Rick and DJ TO BE FINISHED.

Short scripted audio stories are currently in production. They will be released in between longer seasons, but not necessarily tied-in with current or future stories.

Friends of the Bone Chariot is made for people who love stories that are fully-crafted, but have the organic feel of improv that lends itself to unpredictability. A full musical score and sound effects provide further immersion into the world. We’re crafting a modern approach to the classic style of fictional radio dramas.

The Production

Friends of the Bone Chariot’s first season, Welcome to Madawaska, was released on October 30, 2020. All episodes are recorded remotely and edited for length and clarity.

The main story is scripted by the narrator and left open to explore by the other cast members. At times, outcomes are determined through dice rolls, leaving much of the story to chance. Midway segments and epilogues are recorded after the main story sessions and edited in.

Friends of the Bone Chariot is self-funded with no advertisements at this time.
